Reign
Tidus opened his eyes and all was dark.
Images of you flash through his mind. Your smile, your tears, your laughter, your kisses, your touches, your blood. He looked down at his own hands to find that they were stained crimson. Horror began to overwhelm him when the sound of screams made themselves audible to his ears.
In the end, he was just like his father.

Kingdom
He waved at you from inside the water sphere, quite pleased at the admiration in your expression. Without warning, he kicked his leg forward and did a full flip in the water, drawing cheers from the crowd. Much as he loved his fans, they had drowned out your cheers. His buddies chuckled at him as they swam around.
Zanarkand Abes.
This was his kingdom. Here, he was immortal and invincible and it only mattered in your eyes. After all, you were the reason why he continued to train his butt off after his dad disappeared. When the fanfare came, he dragged his eyes away from you to greet the opposing team.
Little did he know that it would be his last memory of you.

Royal
Yuna sighed softly as her head fell back against the pillow. You poked your head into the room, asking softly, “Need something to drink?”
“Water would be nice,” she smiled tiredly. “You're a lifesaver.”
“I sure hope so,” you grinned as you walked into the room. When Yuna drank the glass of water, she laid back down, trying not to crack a smile at the rather curious expression on your face. She feigned nonchalance until you finally couldn't take it anymore and blurted: “So how did it go?”
She rolled her eyes at you, “He knows, but he still asked for your name.”
You squealed, hugging your best friend before heading for the door, “You're the best, princess!”

Evacuate
Tidus freaked. Dear god, that couldn’t even describe what he was feeling in the least. How else might one call a rapidly beating heart—that seemed threateningly close to jumping out of his chest and running for its own life—and dizziness attacking one’s vision? He was dizzy from fear. The frenzy of people was making it hard for him to find you.
He whipped his head around at the sound of your voice, faintly calling his name. Tidus called out your name, reaching out in the dark crowds trying to escape from the dying Home to find you. When his hand was met with your smaller one, he pulled, by god, he pulled until you were held tightly against his body where he would never let you go.
From your eyes, an unspoken apology of where you had gone to his, forgiveness of that brief transgression. He pulled you along the crowd until you were finally out of the building and watching it sink into the golden sands.

Havoc
Tidus sniffed, wiping yet another tear away. He glared at the blitzball, blaming it for yet another fall out with his father. Jecht had left the house again to play blitzball with his buddies after making it perfectly clear to his son who was never going to be adequately skilled to kick the ball. Well, he was going to be proven wrong one day and damned if it was going to take him more than ten years to do that!
He turned towards the door when he heard it creak open and the light spilled in along with some of your strands of hair when you peeked into the house. Curiously, you called out, “Anyone home? Tidus?”
“What are you doing here?” he grumbled. You were the new kid on the block and while he didn’t dislike you, you weren’t any of the people he wanted to see at the moment. “Why are you in my house?”
You blinked, pointing towards the ocean, “Wanna go swimming?”
“What?” God, could he sound any dumber than that?
“I said, wanna go swimming? It looks great outside right now,” you invited and paused when you inspected his face even closer. “Hey… Tidus, are you crying?”
“What? No way,” he denied, wiping at his face furiously. “I’m not crying.”
“Well, you don’t have to lie,” you shrugged, “Was it your dad?”
When he didn’t answer, you sat down next to him, blinking at the blitzball. What a shame, you thought as he started pouring his thoughts out to you, no one should hate the sport because it was so awesome. Your three brothers made sure you grew up thinking that before they went into their own lives and now you’re sitting next to a person who just kicked the ball away.
“I could always teach you how to play,” you offered. “It’s better taught in the water anyways, especially if you’re going to play it in the water. I mean… sure, you can learn how to control it outside of the water, but what’s the point if you’re going to play it in the water, you know?”
Tidus nodded slowly, unsure what to do when you jerked both his hands and the blitzball outside. But suddenly you stopped when you reached the door, “I don’t suppose your dad has his own little blitzball room or something, does he?”
“He does,” Tidus nodded dumbly. When the glint appeared in your eyes, he couldn’t decide whether or not he liked you more or less after your next suggestion, but he did know that when the words left your lips, it got his heart beating faster than he has ever known in the eight years of his life.
“Wanna wreak some havoc and mess up his lovely shrine?”

Aftermath
You were shaking. Rikku’s incredulous cheers didn’t make it any better. The fact of the matter was, the apparition was swimming towards the shores of Besaid and you knew exactly who it was. The question was, however, whether or not he was real. Not two years ago, before you set off with Yuna to find him, you were quite content to find out who the character from the sphere was, even if he wasn’t in love with you.
However, though, two years later, you could only rejoice when Yuna finally confessed that his heart belonged, not to her, but to you. She was bent on finding him because she wanted to change his mind, because she was so deeply in love with him, because she wanted to believe that you didn’t like him as much as she did. But it wasn’t true. Every step of the journey, you had been more than willing to do whatever it took to find him.
Yuna knew that. And now here you two were, standing on the beach of Besaid after Lulu has had her first baby shower and Rikku had called out towards something swimming towards the shore. Within a minute, you could see his blond hair peeking out from underneath the waves and you looked at Yuna. She looked anxious as well, suspended in indecision.
Now what? You wondered. Your sister loved him and you were forever giving your happiness to your sister because you believed that she deserved more than that for all of her happiness. But the decision came to you from your heart before you even knew it. You took off, feet pushing against the sand until you reached the salty ocean. The water was freezing, but it didn’t stop you.
You saw him smile when you were up to your knees in water and by the time the water reached your waist, you were in his arms. Tidus let out a soft laugh, crushing you in his embrace. “I missed you.”
You returned the gesture as soon as you could. The last time you had talked to him… you winced at the memory. Not only did it end badly, you weren’t able to tell him what you wanted to say. You were convinced that he hated you and that he thought you hated him too. Tidus gazed at you through those dreamy blue eyes and you came undone. You jumped up at him, planting a soft kiss on his lips before pulling back with a wide smile on your lips.
And Tidus, with the happiest expression on his face, returned it with all his heart.

Essential
It must have sucked being Yuna’s sister. That was what everyone must have thought whenever they saw the two of you standing together. You had no ties to her whatsoever except your measly connection, no, even you wouldn’t call it measly. You had a connection with her father; he was, after all, the one who took you in when you were orphaned and starving after Sin attacked your village.
In any case, you weren’t the one to continue his prophecy, she was. Yuna had always received special attention from the public, thanking her for what a good job she was doing and how brave she was for taking it. Yuna got the special gifts, the special treatment, and even special friends, but they were your friends too, you understood.
Yuna loved you all the same, in spite of other’s obliviousness to what you’ve done for her. You’ve stood by her side when she was weak, when she was crying, and when she felt so out of place with the world that she wanted to quit altogether. You were the reason that she was still on this journey, and so, you were essential to it all.
And Tidus, you would smile every time you thought of him, he said that you were essential to him as well. He needed you just like you needed him. The journey has been hard and trying and it would take a dead man by your hands before you would even admit that you didn’t always mind being a damsel in distress if it mean that Tidus was to be your knight in shining armor.
Much to your dismay, Sir Auron took care of that with his protectiveness when he took Yuna and you under his wings. Oh how you loved the old man for his love, even though he had an odd way of showing it. You leaned against Tidus’s shoulder, quite comfortable when he wrapped his arm around yours and pulled you to him. You were only in Kilika, but it was going to be a long journey.

Elysium
The fragrance in the air did nothing to ease your tense body. You were running, not caring whether or not your shoes would crush the ethereal petals under every step. You called out his name over and over again, receiving no response and soon you were wondering if you had remembered it at all. Perhaps Yuna should have came. He would have answered to her no matter what.
Before you knew it, you had lost your footing and fell forward, hitting the ground and scraping your chin where the flowers weren't growing. Tears stung your eyes. So much for heaven. You closed your eyes, imagining that after you've called out to him, he would eventually come to you. He would eventually emerge from the fog and stop right next to you. He would kneel down and touch your hair.
You sighed at the thought of his fingers running through your hair as he would always do when trying to rouse you from sleep. When you opened your eyes, there he was. Tidus was smiling gently at you, touching your face and he said something that made you coil back in horror.
“Lenne. You're finally here.”

One Thousand
“Nine hundred and ninety-nine... one thousand!” Tidus grinned mischievously as he turned away from the wall, his blue eyes twinkling at the silent trees in Kilika Woods. “Ready or not, here I come!”
He sprinted a couple of yards, coming to a clearing that had earlier been the place of decision for what game you guys would play today – in spite of the world threatening situation you guys had at hand. Somehow, the team came to the conclusion that Sir Auron was much too uptight for the journey to continue unhindered by his... uptightness. Hell, you somehow even got Khimari and Lulu to agree. Nonetheless, after the past four games where you had been the seeker, Tidus decided to give in to your puppy eyes and took your place as the person who would find everyone else.
In any case, the game was starting to get intense, especially during the last few minutes when people started to get physical. If Auron didn't have long legs, he would have been caught during the last game when you decided to jump down on him from the tree.
He stood still, listening carefully to any suspicious signals. When his ears picked up on the padded footsteps, it was already too late. Tidus barely had time to blink before his chin slammed against the soft dirt and your body was on top of his. Squealing excitedly, you exclaimed, “Caught you!”
Tidus groaned, barely comprehending what the hell was going on, “[Your name], I'm IT, not you.”
You chuckled, getting off his back and pulling him up. Your eyes twinkled as you jerked your finger towards base camp, where a flash of red passed your eyes, “I know, Auron said he'd be IT for the next game if I tackled you down so he can be first.”

If the World Ended
“Hey Tidus, what would you do if the world ended?” You didn't look at him when you asked the question; you had kept your eyes glued to the sky full of stars, a perfect picture, framed by the Macalania Woods. It sounded like a rhetorical question, but with another day closer to the Zanarkand Ruins, you two knew what loomed overhead.
Tidus snuck a glance at you from the corner of his eyes, silently pondering what he could say to keep your mind away from what was inevitable. Instead he grasped your hand, adjacent to his while he was lying next to you and placed it on his heart. “[Your name], can you feel that?”
You turned your head to gaze at him and nodded silently. Tidus closed his eyes and murmured, “No matter what. This heart will always beat for you.”
The wind that was absent that day danced throughout the woods, carrying with it the memories that you were so desperate to recall. Macalania Woods has lost its gleam, the life that was once oblivious to the secret of Yevon and its connection to Sin. It has lost its beauty when you stepped foot onto the coarse branches and laid down on the soft banks of the pond and realized that he was no longer there.

History
It was a night that you wouldn't otherwise remember unless Auron had brought it up. Daddy had tucked you into bed half an hour earlier, leaving you to lie there, hugging the stuffed chocobo to your chest while whispering to Yuna. Much to your dismay, she didn't reply much after five minutes. She has always been one to fall asleep quickly, leaving you to your child insomnia, otherwise known as anxiety. After daddy brought you home from the fire, it was hard to bear leaving his side.
You jumped when you heard the front door open and the hum of your father's gentle voice speaking to the night visitor. Soon, padded footsteps made their way into the house and the front door was closed. You sat up, whispering to your half sister but she didn't stir. Your heart beat fast, not daring to lay back down and try to go to sleep. The last time you had done that, your mother had died in the fire and you were being jerked out of your reverie by our father, whose relief could not but masked by the panic when you woke up.
What if he was facing some kind of trouble? Daddy was a strong mage, but one never knew what one could face in the midst of danger. So you decided. Silently you tiptoed out of your bed and slipped out of your room. The voices grew louder and only then did you realize that you didn't have just one visitor, but two.
“...you're telling me I can never go back?” the gruffness of this man's tone colored what little sadness she thought she heard. “And then what? You expect me to offer my service to kill Sin? I got a kid waiting at home, Nebraska. He's a crybaby.”
“Jecht, you know I want nothing more than for you to be safe at home,” daddy soothed the stranger, “It's been five days since you've arrived in Spira and the only way you can find the answers to your questions is anywhere but here. People in Besaid don't know anything, Jecht.”
“You are aware of what will happen, right?” Sir Auron's voice addressed the two. You peeked your eyes through the slit of the door unclosed, trying to see inside, but the silent regard was his answer. “Nebraska, you realize the risk that you're taking. You have two daughters. You know what it means to defeat Sin, what it takes.”
“I'm aware,” daddy responded.
Jecht cleared his throat, and in a grumble, he said, “Well, if there's a chance for me to see my little boy, I'm in if you're in.”

Before I Die...
The darkness could not be closing on him any faster and it didn't seem like anything he tried could help him get away from it. It was gaining on him and sooner or later, he would be caught. Gritting his teeth, he took a deep breath before bolting forward. Only when his legs ached painfully did he feel the claws digging into his shoulder and soon, he was too weak for another step. Only another second had passed while he died slowly, surrendering to the darkness around him.
He bolted forward, leaping towards the dull light penetrating into the room from outside. Tidus was panting heavily, having run so many miles in his dream. His hands reached out all around him until they touched your warm body. You stirred lightly before settling closer to him, groaning softly in your sleep. You were safe, he realized, you were still alive.
Tidus settled back down on the bed and took deep silent breaths, trying to calm his breathing. Slowly you woke up to the sound of his uneven breathing. He has been having nightmares lately and for some reason, he wouldn't confide in you for the same fear that has been stealing his concentration as of lately. You touched his arm, whispering softly, “Tidus, are you okay?”
He nodded in the dark, forgetting that you couldn't see it. “I'm fine.”
“Is something wrong? Do you want to talk about it?” Your voice was filled with concern.
He shook his head and responded slowly, “Another time, okay?”

Traitor
You folded your arms across your chest angrily, glaring at your accomplice sitting across from you. Yuna had her hands on her hips, tapping her foot impatiently while waiting for you to utter your apology, but no. Never. You were unapologetic, remorseless, and most of all, stubborn as hell. It had been a trap all along and you would go to hell before you admit that you had fallen, without a misstep, into this trap.
Nonetheless, you could have gotten away with it if you had known it was a trap.
“I'm not apologizing,” you announced proudly, ignoring the pleading looks from the eight-year-old Tidus, who had already surrendered to your older sister's expectations, “You made those cookies to be eaten and here we are, doing you a favor. So you should actually thank us!”
Yuna's eyes widened in anger, quite ready to pounce and beat you up like any older sister would, but was stopped by Wakka, her best friend, speaking as a pacifier, “Now, now, Yuna. Your sister is just... curious and hungry, besides, it's only... how many cookies did she eat?”
“Twelve,” Tidus offered promptly, earning a glare from you.
“Traitor! You ate five!” You sprang towards the blond, grabbing his hair with your stubby five-year-old fingers. “You said it was okay to eat the cookies!”
“Did not!” Tidus exclaimed, realizing his plans have been revealed. Yuna turned her gaze towards him, raising an eyebrow, daring him to continue any further. Blushing in embarrassment, the older boy muttered a farewell before dashing out of the door.
You flashed a toothy smirk his way, now who's in trouble?

Reckless
Lulu was onto something when she said that you would soon be the bane of her existence. You were always the one to act first and think later while Yuna, your best friend, was the polar opposite. You were the first to volunteer your services as a guardian to Yuna, despite knowing the dangers of what this pilgrimage would entail. You invited Tidus into your home on the first day he arrived to Besaid because the guy looked nice.
Next thing you knew, you were jumping off the deck of the airship to keep Tidus from being ambushed at Yuna's wedding, in spite of his feelings for her. And now, you were falling. Thrown out of the ceremony, an airship floating over the mountains. The wind stung against your cheek , drying your mouth, drying your eyes so that you have to surrender to the darkness that would not let you see how and where you would die.
Well, at least you would die in the snow, you've always liked the snow. You released a breath, accepting your situation and allowed your body to relax. Only all too soon did your body suffer a shock from a sudden change in position. You hit hard warm muscles and suddenly strong arms were wrapped around you. You could hear indistinct voices in the background and you could feel leather materials touch your cheeks and his heartbeat rapidly pounding against his chest.
Tidus. You sighed inwardly. If you could fall into his arms like this at the end of the day, you didn't mind being so reckless, even with your heart.

Understanding
“So you're the sister?”
You jerked your gaze over to the stranger standing at the end of the chocobo field. You waved him over and laid back down on Chocolate, who squawked lazily at the incoming presence. He was blond and tan with vivid blue eyes, you observed, no doubt the newcomer to Yuna's group of guardians. You had read about this guy in Yuna's most recent letters before she came to Kilika for the temple. You told her that she was welcome to stay with you for as long as she needed. When he sat down beside you, smiling and introducing himself, you responded nonchalantly with your name and “I'm the half-sister.”
Tidus's eyes widened a bit and his mouth opened as to say something before it closed. You chuckled, knowing what his response meant—not that you've never seen it before—and replied, “He found my after my village burned down.”
Ashamed at his blatant misunderstanding, Tidus looked away with a blush and an apology. Silence dragged on for about five minutes before he asked, “Will you be coming with us?”
You shrugged, not quite sure. Yuna hasn't made it known how she would feel about you coming along, though you were sure that Sir Auron wanted you along so he could keep an eye on you as well. Tidus extended his arm slowly before his hand touched Chocolate's beak. The chocobo sniffed loudly before it shook itself to stand up, forcing you to sit up straight, before walking away to another spot. “You annoyed him.”
Another apology flew out of the blond's mouth as he scratched his head, “My bad.”
Clearing your throat, you shook your head before beckoning with your hand in a go-ahead motion, “Now, tell me about yourself. I want to know more about the person who's going to be going on the pilgrimage with my sister, whether or not I'm coming.”

Anxiety
The sound of your heels echoed over and over again as you sped down the halls in the airship, excited to see him now that the battle was over. You were probably so exhilarated that you forgot to breathe, only stopping when you bumped into Brother. He grabbed your shoulder to steady you and asked in native tongue, “Something wrong? Are you going somewhere?”
You shook your head with a wide grin on your face, responding in the same language, “Where is Tidus? I want to see him!”
His eyes widened in concern, “You haven't heard?”
Minutes later, you were screaming his name, over and over again as you sprinted towards the deck. Why hasn't anyone told you? Why didn't you know? Why didn't he tell you? You wanted to cry. Your lungs burned and your leg muscles were writhing in pain, but you didn't feel it at all. You pushed the doors to the deck and they slammed open, giving you the view of Tidus looking at you over his shoulder.
He seemed so serene with his deep blue eyes and the tiny smile on his lips as he fell forward towards the Farplane. You cried out, falling forward only to be caught by your friends. Yuna performed the sending and it was all you could do to hide your face in Lulu's shoulders to keep from seeing all the Aeons and him disappear.
The thought of it made you dizzy. He was gone. He was gone. He was gone! After all this time, this journey, everything you've been through! You bolted up in bed, feeling something stuck in your throat. Breathing became difficult and you desperately let out a strangled cry. Your bedroom door burst open and Lulu walked in, wearing her pajamas, face filled with concern. She placed her palm on your forehead and it felt like air filled your lungs.
“Thank you,” you whispered as to not wake the baby. “I'm sorry for waking you up.”
You hadn't wanted to intrude on Wakka and her's family home, but they had insisted on your staying with them after Yuna took off again, in spite of your protests to stay with her. Lulu shook her head, tucking your hair behind your ears, “You're like a sister to me. Wakka and I want to take care of you.”
“I know... I received a sphere from Yuna today.” Lulu seemed to be holding her breath as you continued. “She found something. She found a sphere, Lulu, she found a sphere of him and he was alive.”
You shook your head with a wide grin on your face, responding in the same language, “Where is Tidus? I want to see him!”

Intentions
Tidus was nowhere to be seen. After waking up to an empty bed this morning, you thought nothing of it since he always loved to jog or swim by the Besaid beach. When breakfast came around, you went by the beach to look for him but saw no signs of him. Shrugging, you thought nothing much of it once again, thinking that he must be swimming by the lagoon, a very tasteful choice for a dip in the morning. So you stopped by there, seeing no signs of him once again.
Sighing, you decided that he must be back in the village now, enjoying himself to breakfast without you on his ravenous appetite, so you started towards home. When you returned, you passed by Yuna, who informed you that Tidus was talking to Wakka. Curious as to why he would leave breakfast uneaten to talk to Wakka, out of all people—not that you didn't love the man as a brother yourself, you started off towards Lulu's tent.
You heard their voices inside and peeked in to see Tidus and Wakka deep in conversation. What in the world were they doing? You couldn't hear what they were saying, much to your dismay, so you slipped out, returning to your own tent. Before long you fell into yet another nap. The conversation played itself over and over again as you imagined Wakka and Tidus saying different things every time, each scenario got worse and worse. Yuna always pointed out what a pessimist you were.
You blinked groggily and moaned at the sensation of soft lips on your shoulder. Turning over, you smiled at Tidus, who had a wide grin on his face as he draped his arm over your hips. “Taking a nap?”
“Waiting for you,” you responded, turning around to snuggle against his chest. “What were you and Wakka talking about?”
“You,” Tidus chuckled, as though he knew you wouldn't resist a little opportunity to spy. “I was asking him about you.”
Frowning, you blinked, “Am I in trouble?”
“No,” he laughed as he leaned in to whisper into your ears. You blushed furiously before mumbling an embarrassing response before snuggling back against his chest, hiding your face from him. “Well?”
“...sure.”

Surrounded
Sometimes you don’t always feel appreciated.
Sometimes it’d be nice to hear a “Thank you, dear, I love this” when you make breakfast for people in the morning. Or even a “It was delicious” would be sufficient. Then when you get home, maybe it’d be sweet of Tidus, oh so beloved boyfriend, to offer to do the dishes once in a while instead of playing blitzball in the backyard with his pals all day. Doing what you do, it is frustrating to chase around corrupt politicians to interview them and ask them why they like to be the living dirt of the earth, so one must understand or at least see why you don’t want to sit around doing housework when you get home.
And heck, sometimes you don’t even want to come home... but when you think of the sweet smile with which he greets you every time you open that backyard door or the kiss the two of you share before he leaves for work every morning, you can’t possibly stay away.

Longing
You didn't have the mixed blue and green eyes like your sister. You didn't have the soft voice or nicely endowed body; hell, you didn't even have an ounce of her grace. The day Lord Braska took you back to Besaid as his daughter, you were but wearing a white dress, dirtied from running in the sand to play tag with your new godfather. But you had everything.
You had his attention, you made friends with the village kids, you were even able to go hunt in the mountains once in a while, assuming that you were able to convince Wakka that your presence during his blitzball practices was less than useful. Yuna was jealous, she had admitted to you. She wanted that freedom. She wanted to be able to do what she wanted. She wanted not to be Lord Braska's successor.
And yet when the man named Tidus came around, you found that you wanted nothing but his attention.
For the first time in your life, you were jealous of her.

Jecht was in the middle of leaving his house before he saw a flash of red cut around the corner. He blinked. Well, his wife wasn’t supposed to be home and not to mention, the kid was out with that snotty little brat again. He didn’t know what to do the last time the two of them broke into his blitzball supply room.
Obviously from the look on your face, he knew that the suggestion to punish the two of you – physically or not – will probably get him in trouble with his wife. Not to mention, he’d hate to come home to an empty supply room again. He shrugged, bouncing his blitzball on his knee before heading towards the door.
“Whooop!” Another red flash. What the hell was that?
Jecht set his ball down, calling out while heading towards the kitchen, “Tidus? What are you doing home, boy?”
"To wreck your shrine!" It was already too late when Jecht heard your voice coming from his precious room.

Yawn
The sound was quite sudden, though not really expected. Considering the matter at hand, it was not about whether or not it would happen, should it happen at all (which was definitely… considering the matter at hand), but who would make it and when it would happen. Because only then, you see, everyone else would loosen up and let loose to make their own.
Tidus blinked and looked around the room, examining each faces to, hopefully, deduce the source of the sound so he can silently thank that person for dispelling of awkwardness that had dawned on the room when Yuna walked into the prayer room. Neither of Auron’s eyes nor mouth could be seen, and god knows the man never slept or anything so there was no way he could have done that.
Tidus has heard Khimari before and that squeaky sound was nowhere near the sound that the beastly guardian made, if he had the audacity to make such a sound at this moment at all. Lulu was not in the room, as she has chosen a while ago to stay at a hut to prepare food for everyone to eat. Wakka seemed like the likely culprit, Tidus observed, leaning further against the wall at his friend who sat across from him. However the man looked more engrossed in his thoughts than ever, so he probably forgot to yawn if he had fallen in the mood to sleep at all… he must have been thinking of how to get the championship once they leave Kilika Island and move onto Luca.
He jumped lightly when a small weight landed on his shoulder. Tidus turned to see a head full of light brown rest on his head. On the other hand, considering how he had first met you at the Besaid Temple, it made you the best candidate to fall asleep while Yuna was praying. He chuckled softly, drawing the eyes of the other guardians standing in the room and in spite of their silent indication to wake you up, he didn’t.
Instead he moved and placed your head on his lap. Murmuring softly, you moved into a more comfortable position before letting out a soft snore, drawing a smile on his face as Tidus leaned back against the wall and closed his own eyes.

“You have to keep your eyes closed, okay?”
You grinned at the excitement in his voice. He had woken you up with a kiss that day to show you a surprise and after an entire day of work, you were anxious to find out what it was. You tiptoed forward, holding your hands out so that you could keep contact with his muscled arm. Tidus laughed and left you for five seconds before he came back, arms enclosing around your waist as he whispered in your ear, “Hey you remember what we talked about two years ago?”
“What?” you laughed.
“Well, you remember when we were in Kilika and you talked about getting a hut just for the two of us so that the kids can live by the sea?”
“Yes,” you giggled, putting your hands over his when he moved them up to your eyes right before you opened them yet, “I hope we’re not getting a hut because I changed my mind after Sin did that little destruction trick, yea?”
“I know,” he said, inching you forward, “Hold your hands out.”
You reached out, coming into contact with a cool surface and when Tidus said to push the door in, you obeyed. He continued to whisper in your ears, “What I meant was, do you remember that house?”
Your heart skipped a beat. Oh. That house. You definitely remembered that house, after having your first fight with Tidus on the way back to Besaid. You both insisted that everyone go back on their own because you two had your own problems to settle and you DEFINITELY settled them in that house. You blushed and managed a small nod. Shakily, you asked, “W-what about it?”
“You know how we were lying there after the storm, looking out the window in the living room, and we were talking about what we’d do with the house if we bought it?” you can feel his grin by your ear.
Smiling, you added, “We’d repaint the living room, take off the roof so we can have a sunroof. We’d have nothing but a rug and a fireplace and…”
You trailed off when Tidus had removed his hands. He waited for your reaction, smiling as you slowly made your way to the soft fluffy rug on the floor and the cackling fireplace. There wasn’t a lot of fireplace that existed nowadays and you were amazed that it was real fire coming from that fireplace.
Tidus came up from behind you, hands squeezing your hips as he whispered in your ears, “And then you remember what we talked about doing after we bought the house?”

Instinct
He hadn’t realized that it would be so hard to watch you walk away. Yuna’s wedding was in a day and finally they had decided on a plan that would save her. When it was determined that one person would sneak into the wedding with Yuna, Tidus knew that you would be the one to volunteer no matter how hard he would try to convince you otherwise. She was your sister, after all, and it was your obligation to save her.
The two of you had a misunderstanding yesterday night and it was all he could do to apologize to you but he knew that if he said anything to you, it would end up with him begging you not to go. Right now, you were dressed up as a maid of honor, trying on the dress that you would wear tomorrow. Instead of the way the conversation should have gone yesterday with you in his arms, it ended with you thinking that he was in love with Yuna and that you had to save her so that the two of them could be together.
In two hours, you would be on the other ship, in danger at all times and there was nothing he could do about it. When the room cleared and your back was facing the mirror, trying to see what your back looked like. Your hands were struggling to reach up to pull the zipper but it was difficult.
“I’ll get it,” he offered shakily, startling you out of your thoughts.
“I didn’t see you there,” you smiled nervously, turning around slowly. “Thanks.”
“You don’t have to do this, you know,” he said, his hands trembling as he reached for your zipper. He laughed, “Sorry, the zipper’s a little small.”
“You can inch it forward if you have to,” you said quietly, after a while, you responded to his earlier comment, “It has more to do with the fact that she’s my sister than anything. I have to protect her… she’s the one who’s going to save Spira from Sin.”
“But… what about me?” he asked, finally jerking your zipper up.
You turned around, a confused look and a frown on your features, “What do you mean… what about you?” You sidestepped him, shaking your head as you continued, “Tidus, I’m partly doing this for you as well. You two are together, you’re going to be together.”
“No, you don’t—“
You turned around to him with a tight smile and stood on your tiptoes to wrap your arms around his neck. Tidus shut his eyes tightly before wrapping his arms around your waist. “It’s okay. You guys are going to be together happily ever after.”

Animal
Shitshitshit. Maybe you shouldn’t have been so brave as you try to challenge Sir Auron, you contemplated, gripping the tree trunk and surveying your surroundings. Anyone could outrun the man, but there was no question that sooner or later, he’d find you and slap a bitch. To make it all the better, the rest of the guardians thought this would be some useful training for the future so now here you were, hiding from the rest of the team and the miserable SOB who was out to get your hide for challenging his competence.
At the sound of a soft rustling, you leaned forward, listening more intently. And suddenly a gloved hand covered your mouth and strong arms pulled you against a warm chest. You stifled a scream, glaring at the perpetrator when you signaled that you weren’t going to scream. Tidus smiled sheepishly at you and mouthed a sincere apology, though from the look in his eyes, you could tell that he wasn’t the least bit apologetic.
“Are you crazy?!” you mouthed, pointing downward on the ground where Auron might have been hiding. “That crazy son of a—“
And never let it be said that Sir Auron could not bring shivers down a young girl’s back even in his old age, dead or alive. Tidus could not even find room to be envious when he saw the color slip from your face at the sound of the older man’s voice. “No cheating.”

His eyes, reflected with hurt, averted towards the ground when you flinched away from his hands. You hugged your arms close to your body, shaking your head and blinking the tears away. You didn't want to hear it, but it didn't stop him from saying, "I missed you."
"No, don't say that... please don't say that." How could he dare say something like that to you? That moment when he left for the Farplane, the months you spent searching with Yuna, the false hope and tears shed when Shuyin came and unknowingly tortured you with memories of him. Did he know how... did he know how long it took for you to even step outside again? "I can't... I had to make myself survive without you and now that you're--"
"I'm here." Tidus pulled you into his arms and leaned his forehead against yours, "I'm here. I'm sorry for leaving, but I promise that I will never be away from your side again."

Useless
You let out a scream as you pounded on the metal door. No one answered.
Two days in this room and you were miserable. You wondered how long it would take for the others to find you, if they were even looking. You hadn’t exactly left on good terms, having stubbornly stuck to your idea of finding Sin. Well, you laughed inwardly, you found him.

Karma
Before Tidus opened his eyes, he knew that you were trying to get back at him for yesterday. In between the realms of his dreams and reality, he had felt the slight tug of the blanket off his body as well as your warmth shifting away from his body. He was sure that he had reached out for you anyway, but seeing as he felt unbearably delicious warmth around his member, he was glad that he probably didn’t.
He reached for you again, only to find his hands reaching for air and immobile. Slowly, he opened his eyes to see you straddling him, a look of pure ecstasy on your face and naked as the day you were born. Your cheeks were flushed and your mouth partially open while your eyes were tightly shut. Your breasts were thrust into his face, close enough for him to be aroused but never close enough to touch. Breathlessly, he murmured, “Good morning.”
You slowly opened your eyes, an expression of pure seduction seized your face as you leaned down to claim his lips and respond, “Good morning, did you sleep well?”
He grinded his hips against yours, “Yes… what do I have to do to touch you?”
You smiled, touching the restraints you had placed on his hands, “Nothing, I told you that karma is going to get you, now you’re just going to have to wait it out, darling.”

Exception
Tidus has had many girlfriends during his newfound career as a blitzball player and even more before he signed onto the Zanarkand Abes but his friends never expected him to want to be exclusive with someone. Apparently it had something to do with a girl from his past moving back home. Well, at first they weren’t really fond of her. Just another pretty face determined to monopolize all of his time, they thought, but that wasn’t the case. Instead, she would walk with him to practice everyday before she made her way, according to Tidus, to her research lab.
Five years later when they thought their best man was going down the path to marriage, they were quite determined to get him to take his time with that. They didn’t have anything against her, really. In fact, they liked her, but at the prime of their life, they wanted him to enjoy it as well, but they couldn’t really do it. The two were so happy and they were so used to seeing them together that the thought of seeing their best friend with another bimbo wasn’t so appealing.
Twenty years later when Tidus played his last game, he invited the guys over to his house for a party and they watched as their kids played blitzball in the mini pool. When they saw his eyes wander to his wife, who was chatting up the girls sitting around her, they were kind of glad that the two stayed together. They were an intensely private couple when it came to their problems, even though everyone knew that they had their fights, big and small, but they were generous with their affection. A passing smile, a lingering touch, a peck on the lips as he brushed past her.
What more could they ask for? She made him the better person.

Movement
“Did you find her?” Though the questions were left unasked on his lips, Auron knew what the young man was saying with his eyes.
The older man shook his head in response, “She was already gone when I got there.”
There was a crestfallen look that had graced his face for a split second before he forced a smile, “Well, sometimes no news is good news, right?”
“She doesn’t want to be found, Tidus,” he remarked, but Tidus wasn’t listening. Instead, his attention had drifted to the bracelet in his hand. In all of his time spent with the blond, he has never hesitated to deflate his false hopes, but somehow this time, it would be too cruel. “I’m sure she’ll contact us when she’s ready.”

Tragedy
He called out to you when the incident in Kilika had ended.
When the sea had finally calmed down, it was a miracle to see another person alive and walking. He walked around the deck for hours, searching for you. It was just when he ran into Yuna and Wakka, who had also joined in on the search after they found a place for Lulu to rest her head, that he felt a speck of hope. He called out your name over and over and he didn’t think his voice would be hoarse by the end of the day in looking for you.
It was strange but he didn’t want to think the worst. In times like these, no doubt you would have found him before he was even awake but he didn’t want to think that anything has happened to you.
Only when he saw Yuna’s expression did his heart stop. She had started towards the end of a harbor that he couldn’t see. It was a mess there so he didn’t understand the distraught expression that had taken over her face and his brain seemed to have blocked out all understanding of the event when Wakka held him from joining her. When he heard her screaming your name in tears, his heart stopped.
Was it true? Was it really true? He faltered to even venture upon the possibility but it was too late to keep the thoughts from invading his mind. He found that sometimes, even the most optimistic person alive could lose their hope if they had seen the bracelet he gave you as a present drift by in the water.

Sorry
There was a look in your eyes that Tidus never expected to see upon his return. When Yuna came to greet him at the shores, you had stayed behind and your lips formed a thin line that defined the lack of emotions with which you had greeted him. He wanted to pull you into his arms and beg for some kind of forgiveness so that you guys could return to normal, but there was somehow this invisible gap between the two of you that was impossible to overcome.
Even during the celebration of his return, he had looked for you but Lulu had informed him that you had retired for the night. It did, after all, take two years to find him.
And when he had walked Yuna home later that night, he had come to realized how much he missed. She was more outspoken, not at all like the shy friend he had come to know and trust two years ago when they were trying to defeat Sin. Rikku was almost the same as always, but her maturity did not go unnoticed by him when she told him to man up and talk to you. As for Paine, this new girl, she had merely looked at him with an expression of disdain and murmured something about how you could have been attracted to a guy like him.
When he saw that look on your face every time your gazes connected, he couldn’t help but wonder why too.
He had returned to your house that night to find that the lights were out. In the dark, he found that he could still navigate through your house, as the stuff had been left untouched after he was gone, especially since you had left at the first notice that there was a sphere of him found, though it wasn’t him at all. He remembered the citrus scene that lingered in the air, a memento of when Lulu and Wakka used to live there with you two and you guys had tried to cover up the burn smell of your pie because you guys had been fooling around instead of paying attention to the baking.
He saw your figure on the bed, wrapped in a thin blanket and no doubt, waiting for him all this time. He was surprised that you hadn’t said anything at all. You were always a light sleeper and even when you pretended to sleep, all he had to do was kiss you to rouse you into laughter. He found his place in your bed and when he pulled you close, it was almost like the gap that had formed during those two years had never happened before and when you snuggled against him, his heart breathed a sigh of relief at the fact that you might have felt the same.
“How was the party?” you asked, voice full of sleep.
“It was good,” he responded, planting a kiss on your forehead, “I’ve missed you.”
You stayed silent for a while and only when your grip tightened onto his shirt did he realize that you had been holding onto him. With a soft whisper that barely disguised the pain you had suffered for the time you guys spent apart, you responded, “I’ve missed you too.”
