Summer
We were like children,
Innocent and pure of heart,
We danced in the cool transient rains,
And read with flashlights in the pitch dark.
We were like children,
When the playground was heaven,
The chalk marks never fading,
And on time are our rocky mountains.
We were like children,
Of the summer we would play,
The mornings for the games that we plan,
And the night where we await the next day.
Only we are no longer children,
Because our friends move away,
And we've all become teens,
When the summer is finally over.
Innocent and pure of heart,
We danced in the cool transient rains,
And read with flashlights in the pitch dark.
We were like children,
When the playground was heaven,
The chalk marks never fading,
And on time are our rocky mountains.
We were like children,
Of the summer we would play,
The mornings for the games that we plan,
And the night where we await the next day.
Only we are no longer children,
Because our friends move away,
And we've all become teens,
When the summer is finally over.
