Summary: When Sora finds his girlfriend at his door, soaked to the bone with a hideously broken cat in her pocket, what was he supposed to do?
“You did what?!” Sora twitched, staring at the little thing in front of him.
“Don’t yell, Sora! My dad says his ears are sensitive!” she scolded, wincing as she withdrew the dirty fur ball into her arms. Alena cooed the disgusting brown thing and pouted at him, “Only until we find an owner for him! I swear it won’t take long!”
“It’s not like anyone’s going to want that thing,” he pointed out, “It’s disgusting.”
The brown haired female looked at him disapprovingly and continued to whisper words of comfort into the cat’s ears, “Okay, since Sora’s house is out, let’s go find Riku, Neko-chan.”
His girlfriend pouted cutely before turning around in an angry huff, marching out of the house. He sighed, scratching the back of his head in dismay, while watching the back of her brown locks blow in the windy air while she clutched the fur ball inside her coat.
He had only discovered her habit for taking in stray animals when they had passed their six months anniversary. She had brought to school a snapping turtle, which in amazement, snapped at everyone except her. What made it even worst was that since their book bags were exactly the same, courtesy of Riku and his so-called couple prank, he had accidentally taken her bag. What he had thought was his textbook when he reached into the bag blindly ended up being the tiny blasted reptile/amphibian thing that nearly bit a chunk off of his finger.
Now near their one-year anniversary, she had brought upon him the disease-carrying, dirty-looking thing. He wasn’t sure if it should really be called a cat at all except for the fact that it hissed at him from her coat pocket when he reached in to kiss her.
It would be extremely difficult to get Riku to keep an animal of any form inside his house without eating it. He didn’t have the heart to tell her what really happened to the small chicken that she rescued from the school chef except that it ran away. It would be hard for anyone to take that cat. What did she call it? Neko-chan? Just like Alena to give names to stray animals that come upon her path.

“I told you Riku wouldn’t take him,” he muttered, opening the door wider for her to enter. Her shivering form walks in, Sora sighed as he spotted the thing shivering inside of her coat jacket. “Why are you walking outside so late anyways? Don’t you know it’s dangerous?”
“It’s Destiny Island, I know everyone here,” she retorted, walking into his open arms.
He gave her cold forehead a quick kiss and backed away before the brown dirt ball could attack him.
"Be right back,” he told her, ushering her on the couch and covering her frail form with the wool blanket he was covering himself with earlier. He watched Alena hold the kitten closer to herself while she pulls the blanket closer from the kitchen when he pours the hot chocolate into the same cup he was going to give her.
“Don’t worry, Neko-chan, we’ll find you a home,” he heard her sweet voice whisper.
He sighed, setting the cup of hot chocolate gently on the coffee table and closed his eyes, bracing himself for the next words he said, “Alright, Alena, tell me what’s going on…”
The rapid tale, in which she had narrated, or rather spun up, seemed rather interesting. Apparently, this kitten jumped into her window because of the cold outside. Although, Sora did not find it hard to believe, unlike other girls, his girlfriend LOVES the cold. Sometimes he wonders if she loves it more than him, despite of her shivering and all. He leaned forward to kiss her on the cheek only to be stopped by the malicious hiss of the kitten; Alena, however, mistaken the blasted warning for a purr.
“So why aren’t you keeping this thing at your house again?” he asked, deciding it was safer to sit a bit farther from her while keeping contact through their toes touching each other under the blanket.
Alena hummed, scratching the kitten’s ears soothingly, almost making the teenager wish HE was the fur ball, “My mom’s allergic to cats.” He winced. Sora hated being the source of secrets; besides not having the heart to tell her about her dad’s impulsive disease-naming habit, one that had slid by Alena several times without her noticing, he would rather stand clear of her mother’s wrath instead of telling his girlfriend that her mother’s not really allergic to cats, or any other animals that she had brought home.
“So…” she hummed.
He sighed exasperatedly, grabbing the fur ball roughly by its neck, “I’ll take him.”

Sora shifted uncomfortably, feeling the fur ball snuggle into him once again. He had originally planned to let it sleep in the living room downstairs where it wouldn’t have a chance to kill him in his sleep. But somehow, it found its way up to his room, where it meowed at the foot of his bed until he roughly grabbed it by the neck and tossed it on his bed. At least it wasn’t dirty anymore. Alena had successfully brushed all the dirt off of its fur before he took her home. As daring as he always was, Sora took the chance and quickly dived for her lips while shoving the kitten into his jacket pocket to prevent its viewing of their affection. As he left running, a smirk lingered on his lips as he saw his girlfriend’s flushed expression staring wide-eyed at his retreating back.
“Look, you,” he sighed, nudging the small thing. It shifted, finding itself on top of his chest while it buried its head in his neck. He pulled it from his neck where he was then looking face to face at its groggy expression. It gave out a soft yawn, one similar to the purr that Alena would sound after waking up whenever she would take a nap after studying at his house. He groaned and inhaled deeply before saying, “If we’re gonna be roommates, you gotta stop being so touchy. Be a man, suck it up and… stop snuggling!”
He set it down on the side of his bed, watching it curl into a ball before he settled on his pillow once more to close his eyes to the upcoming dreams. He inhaled, obtaining a stuffy feeling where his nose used to be. Groaning, he slowly opened his eyes, looking around the messy room that was considered clean in its current state. Then towards the view in front of him, a… fur thing was blocking his eyesight. He sat up abruptly, sending the small kitten rolling down his chest where it ended up sprawled out on his lap, still fast asleep.
Unable to glare at it because of another resemblance to his girlfriend, Sora sighed, scratching softly at its exposed belly. It purred lightly before curling around his hand. “Neko-chan, huh?”
